Poland's December 2024 capacity market auction saw 245 projects selected, totalling about 12GW to sign long and short-term capacity market contracts starting in 2029. It marked a big win for battery storage and a big loss for gas.
The contracts' total worth over the projects' lifetime has been estimated by the government at about Z90bn (US$22.1bn). The auction results bring 181 capacity market contracts within Poland and 64 contracts for projects across Sweden and Slovenia.
