Turkey's government is due next week to announce timelines and revised guidelines for 12 renewable energy auctions under its YEKA programme. The energy ministry has designated 12 new areas where renewables projects can be developed in the coming years with government-backed offtakes.

The total capacity to be awarded and the capacity splits across the tender have not yet been announced. The areas include one in the Gazipaşa district of Antalya, three in Merkez, one in Bulanik and one in the Korkut districts of Muş and six in the Ozalp and Başkale districts of Van.

Turkey wants to quadruple its installed wind and solar energy capacity by 2035 to 120GW and energy minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said that US$80bn of investment will be needed to reach the goal.
