Pernambuco will launch a series of water and sewage projects in the Brazilian state requiring R$6.1bn (US$1.07bn), with R$1.5bn of that expected to be invested in public-private partnerships.

As part of the push, the government has agreed to renegotiate the PPP between state company Compesa and Brookfield-backed BRK Ambitental for the Recife and Goiana regions, which it project financed with a loan from IDB Invest. Pernambuco requires up to R$30bn to universalise water and sewage coverage in the state.
