Germany's Federal network agency Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) has awarded 587MW of solar and storage hybrid projects across 50 projects in its latest innovation tender. BNetzA received 154 bids totalling 1.856GW of capacity.

The agency received proposals for wind/storage hybrids totalling 91MW although none of them were awarded. Successful bids ranged between €67.40 per MWh and €74.50/MWh, achieving an average of €70.90/MWh below the value cap of €91.80/MWh. The previous round’s volume-weighted average price awarded was €83.30/MWh. Most projects are in Bavaria with 227MW across 25 projects, followed by Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 115MW across seven projects and Rhineland-Palatinate with 57MW across three projects.

No awards were made in the biomethane auction, however, which closed for bids on the same day, September 1. The biomethane auction received one bid that was disqualified. Both previous rounds of the biomethane auction had also failed to attract any bids. BNetzA’s previous round of the innovation tender in July saw 512MW of solar-plus-storage capacity awarded across 43 plants “on arable land and grassland in disadvantaged areas”. Prices ranging from €67.80/MWh to €91.70/MWh.
