TotalEnergies has agreed to supply Franco-Dutch airline operator Air France-KLM with up to 1.5m tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel through to 2035.

The contract builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 for TotalEnergies to supply the airline company with 800,000 tonnes of SAF. The fuel supplied to Air France-KLM will be made from waste and will be produced in TotalEnergies' French and European biorefineries and refineries. Air France-KLM is a major user of SAF and accounted for 17% and 16% of total global production in 2022 and 2023, respectively, it said. The group is looking to use at least 10% more SAF in its flights by 2030 as part of its emissions reduction efforts.
